In this lesson, students will use a pizza shop menu to respond to questions about making change from a purchase. The lesson can be used with play money, or students can simply use subtraction to solve the problems. Students are asked to figure out the change each pizza shop customer would receive from a purchase and what bills and coins each customer should get. The lesson is appropriate for use in grades three through five, and it has been successfully used in a fourth grade classroom. The lesson comes with a pizza shop menu and two pages of questions for students to answer.
