Product Description
This is the first Comprehension Strategy Set that I will be creating. Since we work a lot on making connections while we read, I wanted to do more explicit teaching of the strategy. This is a fun way to “Connect the Dots” to their connections made while reading and to base them off of evidence from the text and what they already know (background knowledge).

Included: (*black/white versions still have a colored border and kids clipart that when copied will be fine in black/white)
- 1 Page of 4 Text to Self cards to print, laminate, cut and attach to popsicle sticks to check for understanding while reading aloud, or use as you'd like :) - I like to use these with the introduction to do a quick check of their understanding of the connections before moving into the writing portion.
- 1 Page of 4 Text to Text cards to print, laminate, cut and attach to popsicle sticks to check for understanding while reading aloud or use as you'd like :) - I like to use these with the introduction to do a quick check of their understanding of the connections before moving into the writing portion.
- 1 Page of 4 Text to World cards to print, laminate, cut and attach to popsicle sticks to check for understanding while reading aloud or use as you'd like :) - I like to use these with the introduction to do a quick check of their understanding of the connections before moving into the writing portion.
- 1 Making Connections Poster to use as an anchor chart and display in the room
- 9 versions for "Connect the Dots" Connections Organizer- 3 for each type of writing lines (dotted lines, solid lines, blank box for drawing): colored with name/date, black/white with name/date, colored without name/date to use in the wipe-off folders so they can reuse them.
- 1 Answer key to give examples for the Graphic Organizers and Half-sheets
- 6 pages (2 with dotted lines, 2 with solid lines, 2 with blank boxes for drawing- 1 in color and 1 in black/white) of half sheets "Connection" Sheets that could be used whenever they are reading as a way to promote making connections. Whenever they are reading, and they make a connection, they can go pick up a half sheet, fill it in, and put it on our “Center” Stage board.
- 2 pages of Connections Bookmarks (1 with a boy and 1 with a girl and 3 to a page) to keep the strategy in the forefront while reading!
