Atoms, Subatomic Particles, Charges, Electron Cloud, Nucleus
In this activity the students should have background knowledge on the atomic structure. The idea of this activity it to have the students understand that if Protons and Neutrons make up the nucleus of the atom, and the protons are the identifier (aka - Atomic Number) they can make an atomic structure -- given the number of PEN (Protons, Neutrons, and Electrons). Once the student complete this activity the teacher should extend to explain that Neutrons should be easy to calculate if they just subtract the Atomic Number (Protons) from the Atomic Mass (Protons & Neutrons).
This tool can be used as a classroom activity (with use of the PPT instructions) with the worksheet or as an assessment tool (without PPT instructions).
However, there is a PPT and a worksheet that is included in this bundle.
