Learning Objective

The student will make connections to personal experiences, ideas in other texts, and things happening in society.

Making Connections while Reading: This 50-slide PowerPoint is designed to introduce your students to the 4 types of text connections: text-to-self, text-to-text, text-to-media, and text-to-world.

In this PowerPoint, students differentiate between DEEP connections and SURFACE connections. They are given many opportunities to determine whether connection examples should be classified as a deep connection or a surface connection, and they are encouraged to always write deep connections.
