Included in this product:
1. Student instructions with example
2. 1/4 sheets for student brainstorming
3. Student recording sheet (2 different versions of chart recording sheet)
4. 12 Inference cards
5. Inference exit slip
In this activity students are given a card with an inference and 3 synonyms for a word included in the inference. Students use the card to create a descriptive paragraph without saying any of the underling word or any of the synonyms. Their paragraph is then read by a classmate. The classmate needs to create an inference based on the descriptive paragraph. The goal is for the students to create the same inference that the the other student was assigned. I have included two different recording sheets if you would like the students to read multiple classmates paragraphs.
Use the exit slip as a wrap-up at the end of the activity. Answers may vary for the exit slip as long as the evidence makes sense.
