Making inferences can be a tricky skill for students to master and students need to practice it several times. This resource is a flipbook for teaching and practicing making inferences in fiction and nonfiction texts.

The flipbook contains a page for each of the following:

What Are Inferences?- Provides a definition of inferences and what it means to infer

Making Inferences - Provides tips for what to look for when making inferences in fiction and nonfiction texts

Supporting Inferences – Provides information on using text evidence to support inferences

You Try It! #1 – Provides a short fiction text for the students to make an inference about and provide evidence to support that inference

You Try It! #2 – Provides a short nonfiction text for the students to make an inference about and provide evidence to support that inference

You Try It! #3 – Provides a short fiction text for the students to make an inference about and provide evidence to support that inference

The students will cut out each piece of the flipbook (seven total pieces) and assemble it as shown in the PDF resource.

I have included two printable versions of this flipbook. Version A has all seven pieces on three pages. Each student gets three pages. The other version would allow the teacher to print the sections on different colored paper.
