This game can be used for younger elementary students to practice using schema and clues from text to make inferences. There are 16 riddle cards that can be placed on desks around the room. Students read the riddle and write their inference in the corresponding numbered box on the recording sheet. The teacher can set a timer or call out "Scoot" after a certain number of seconds for students to move to the next clue. I also allow my students to have a "Brain Break" if they finish an answer before the timer goes off. Brain breaks can include jogging in place, toe touches, dancing, etc. This activity could also be used to assess ability to make inferences.
