This lesson teaches students how to Make Inferences from a Random Sample

Students will be presented with different problem sets and they must choose various methods to compare the data given in the problem and then make inferences and draw conclusions. The methods taught in this lesson are:
1. Using Dot Plots to Make Inferences
2. Using Box Plots to Make Inferences
3. Using Proportions to Make Inferences

We also have an entire Bundle of 7th Grade Probability Lessons here:

Lessons for Middle School
Use data from a random sample to draw inferences about a population with an unknown characteristic of interest. Generate multiple samples (or simulated samples) of the same size to gauge the variation in estimates or predictions. For example, estimate the mean word length in a book by randomly sampling words from the book; predict the winner of a school election based on randomly sampled survey data. Gauge how far off the estimate or prediction might be.
