Making Inferences with Transitional Readers

Description
How do we help young readers to make inferences? In this unit, you will find resources to use as you teach about this important process.
Transitional readers have to learn how to do two things at once as they read: decode the words AND understand the text. These materials are carefully designed to be easy to decode while still providing a comprehension challenge. You will find an introduction activity to use as a whole class lesson, independent activities, and six texts at levels G-L. Texts include before reading activities and questions to build understanding.
Texts:
Sam Paints
The Reindeer Hat
Spring Peepers
Black Bears and People
The Magic School (embedded question format)
Afternoon Mystery
Short inference assessments
Formatting is friendly for second and third grade readers, but would also be suitable for older struggling readers.
