Product Description
Student will perform a simple lab where they are asked to use balls of similar size but different masses to make craters in flour pans as a representation of the Moon's surface. Each ball represents one of the three main types of meteorites and students ultimately try to identify the type of meteorite responsible for one of the more distinctive craters on the Moon.

Once the foundation is laid, students are asked to design their own experiment exploring other aspects of meteorite impacts and crater formation.

Three different versions of the lab are provided to facilitate teaching different age groups, students with different backgrounds in inquiry, or differentiation within the classroom.
