Description

Make your math time fun with these hands-on practice pages for building number sense! These differentiated math worksheets for Making Numbers 5-10 are perfect for kindergarten and first grade math groups. These are great graphic organizers that will help students understand the composition of numbers.

Three levels of differentiation are included for both sentence frames and equations:

  • Below Level - Provides visual support and partially filled sentence or equation.
  • On Level - Provides visual support, but sentence or equation is blank for students to complete.
  • Advanced - Provides no visual support. Students use number sense to complete the missing part or equation.

How to use these worksheets:

Provide students with your choice of manipulatives. They will use the manipulatives to compose the number. Students will record their findings on the recording sheet for the given number.

Some inexpensive (and FUN!) ideas for manipulatives:

•Two-colored counters

•Bingo dabbers

•Cotton swabs and two colors of paint

•Seasonal erasers or trinkets
