This activity asks students to create a number using ducklings and adult ducks. Once a student has chosen a number of ducklings and adult ducks to glue to his pond, he then completes the sentence at the bottom of the pond to indicate how many ducks in all.
This activity is a pre-addition activity representing parts of a number. It is designed to allow students to choose their own numbers and is self-differentiated. Advanced students may choose to complete more than one duck pond in a given activity period.
This activity can also be colored and laminated to create a math learning center. Include a dry erase marker to allow students to complete the sentence.
