Product Description
Making inferences is hard for many students. After several years of working with students to understand how to make inferences, I created this product, which walks them, step by step through:

1. Pictures with whole class learning, followed by working in a small group or with a partner
2. A picture book
3. Scaffolded text
4. Their own independent reading

Using Norman Rockwell paintings and photographs from National Geographic, students first observe, then infer, and finally make predictions.

I used these slides initially with the whole class, then had them work in small groups or with partners. By the final slide, they understood the differences between these three important skills! The final slide includes questions from The Sweetest Fig by Chris Van Allsburg.

All the lesson plans and materials (text, exit slips, graphic organizers, homework sheets) are included.

Your only job is to make copies and you're good to go!
