Pentominoes are enjoyable and brain-teasing for young children! In this activity, students are given 5 tiles (or 1" squares of construction paper) to arrange into groups where they touch each other with at least 1 full side touching another tile's full side. Children trace around their arrangements, making sure that each one is different than the others. Once the student has filled their paper with formations of pentominoes they will cut out each layout. Now the real challenge begins as they try to see how many pentominoes they can fit together like a giant puzzle!
