Making Plurals: s or es
Young writers can have a hard time remembering all the rules for making plurals. These activities are designed to help students learn to use 3 of the most common rules: changing y to i before adding es, adding es to words ending with ch, sh, s, x, and z, and changing f to v before adding es.
Included in this activity package are:
-Teaching posters for each rule
-3 learning games for your centers (one game for each rule)
-An independent practice worksheet for each rule
-A challenge activity for each rule. These challenge activities work well with partners or small groups, as they focus on activities at the upper end of Bloom’s Revised Taxonomy.
-A review poster for each student to keep in their writing folder or journal.
-2 culminating activities: a book search and a writing prompt.
