Making Plurals: Adding S or ES is a colorful and engaging PowerPoint presentation that is ready to use. No prep required! This presentation will help you teach your students 3 of the most common rules for adding s and es to a word: when to change y to i before adding es, adding es to words ending with ch, sh, s, x, and z, and changing f to v before adding es.
There are 3 slides for each of the rules.
1.The first slide for each rule has 2 example words for you to use in explaining the rule.
2. The second slide for each rule has practice words for your students. You could have them turn and talk with a neighbor to discuss the rule, or you could have them silently decide which word fits the rule.
3. The third slide for each rule has several words that must be correctly written. To facilitate this part, you will probably want to direct your students to have a sheet of paper on their desks as you go through the presentation.
Also, there are two review slides which combine two rules for extra practice. At the end of the presentation is a slide which can be printed for additional independent practice.
Please note: Because of copyright restrictions, the PowerPoint slides are Not editable.
