Making Sense of Numbers:
This is a packet designed to build number sense (1-20), a huge component of the Common Core in Mathematics for the primary grades.
Students use bingo markers to record their understandings which makes it fun and interactive. Oral language practice makes this ideal for your ELL's and young students who need to build academic language. In addition, students collect data in a simple fashion.
Directions are provided for using this collaboratively with a student reflection component. Our students must learn to work collaboratively and this packet makes it simple for students to do this once they have worked with these concepts in a small group setting. I even provided a card for student reflection that is appropriate for young children.
A student book can be made from these printables and a cover has been provided for you. It makes a great resource to have out for an "Open House" event. At the end of the year I recommend using it for an assessment of number sense.
First grade teachers will find this useful at the beginning of the school year or for intervention. It can also be used as homework for students who need more practice with these concepts.
I hope this is something that you will find useful for your classroom. My students love bingo markers and the opportunity to use them. Look for related Language Arts activities that will make your students go dotty too.
