Making Words This is a set of 2 different recording sheets for a "making words" center that can be used many times throughout the school year. These activities are class-room tested and kids really enjoy them!
To use this center you need some kind of letter tiles. I found games at thrift stores with letter tiles (Scrabble, UpWords, etc.) You could also print letters on cardstock and cut them apart. Put sets of letters into baggies.
Students use the center as follows:
1. They draw 10 letters from their baggie without looking. There is a place for them to write the letters the drew on their recording sheet.
2. They rearrange the letters to make as many words as they can. There is also a place on the recording sheet for them to write down the words they made.
3. Most of the recording sheets include "free" letter patterns. This means students can use the indicated letter patterns to make words even if they did not draw these letters.
Each page is designed to be cut into 4 individual recording sheets to save paper.
