I give the students this work mat and a strip of letters for making words lessons. They cut apart the letters and lay them on the mat under the star. Words are "made" in the bottom box, recorded on the list, and the final word is pasted in the bottom box (no more little paper letters all over the room!). Flip the paper over and record a vowel chunk from the lesson on the sorting chart. Record words from the lesson and add a few new ones. I use this form all year long!
A SmartBoard lesson is also available to use with the recording sheet. It is a .notebook file and requires Notebook software to open.
