Students will first find out what a claim is, then read an article about Homework: Too Much or Too Little?
Students will then use the graphic organizer provided to write down notes and plan their essay stating their own claim.
Students will then begin to plan an essay where they will take a stand, making their own claim using specific details from the texts they read.
This activity allows students to read articles, while practicing using text details to support their claim, a common core writing standard.
A presentation project is also included if desired.
