In this product, I have generated lists of words for Making and Changing words. I use these word work activities in my second grade classroom. There are 267 word lists (each list has 7 words on it), organized by text level.
There are also blank lists for students to write their words on as an independent center or during guided reading groups. Personally, I do not use the papers photocopied. Instead, I use personal whiteboards during my small groups. I also print these blank pages on cardstick, laminated, and let kids use those with Expo markers so they can see all of the words they worked on and the transitions we made from word to word.
I use these lists in multiple ways in my classroom:
1. During Daily 5, this is a word work choice. I have the lists printed on cardstick and laminated. They are in a bin for students to grab and use with a partner and their personal whiteboard. Partners take turns being the "teacher" and the "student."
2. During our small groups (skills or guided reading), I use the lists for myself. I keep the lists with my small group supplies so my Making and Changing words time is more meaningful and organized, instead of trying to come up with these ideas on the fly.
