This quote is by Nobel Laureate Malala Yousafzai from her speech at Harvard University, September 27, 2013. The poster prints crisply on standard 8.5 x 11 inch paper or card stock.
I collect quotes, and I try to surround my students in words. As much as I like to think I'm always the captivating teacher, the truth is, at some point, my students' eyes are bound to wander. So long as I've filled my classroom walls with inspiration, I don't mind.
These quotes are a way for me to connect with my students-- they give students a sense of my values and role models, and they spark conversation between us about who said it and what it might mean. We talk about what words inspire them, and students suggest more quotes I should add to my walls.
They're also an attractive and easy solution to empty walls! I printed about thirty on neon paper, made a border above my whiteboard, and scattered the rest around the room.
