Mamba Mentality & Kobe Bryant: Teach Focus, Distraction Control and Excellence

Product Description

What’s Behind the Lesson?

No one believed in laser focus and goal setting more than NBA star Kobe Bryant. The coined term and the name of Bryant's book, "Mamba Mentality" refers to the mindset and skills involved in blocking out distractions and having clear focus in order to reach goals.

View with your students Kobe Bryant's motivational video and begin to teach these key principles of performance psychology for their own pursuits.

This mini-course is geared at helping students talk about ‘focus’ and ‘distraction’ in their learning. Students are invited to rate their day-to-day focus during school and to identify distractions that shift them away from doing what is important for their learning. Drawing on Performance Psychologist’s Terry Orlick’s work, I have adapted THREE key resources to help your students achieve excellence.

To begin, I like to help my students un-stress by reading a Relaxation Script to them. It usually takes FIFTEEN minutes. It’s always a welcome break by students of any age. I am helping them find their breath, and to bring awareness inwards.

What’s Included:

  • “Relaxation Script” (for the teacher)
  • “Distraction Control Chart” (handout for students)
  • “Focus Self-Assessment” (handout for students)
