This beginning reader, by Fran Rife, uses simple text to teach about mammals. Students can read the story independently, in a small group, as a center activity, or with some guidance from an adult.
Students can utilize a number of reading strategies such as picture and context clues, sight words, sounds, and CVC words to decode text.
Sight words included are: all, and, are, can, have, in, on, or, to, with.
This 10 page book is designed so that you can copy the book, cut it in half, staple, and then it is ready for use or copy the five pages, cut in half, collate and staple. Page numbers were left out in case you would like to shorten or order the pages of the book differently.
This book reinforces information introduced about mammals. A great read aloud to go along with this book is About Mammals: A Guide for Children by Catheryn Sill and John Sill.
