*Man vs. Wild: Ecuador (Season 1, Episode 6)
As of May 2016 every episode of Man vs Wild is available for a low price on YouTube. This makes for an easy lesson plan for substitute teachers where the accompanying worksheet will help keep students focused.
A 26-question worksheet to accompany this video where host Bear Grylls works his way through the cloud forest and Amazon jungle of Ecuador. This is an excellent video for science or social studies classes in grades 6-12.
Episode summary: Bear Grylls paraglides onto the edge of the Andes and follows rivers into the Ecuadorian jungle, is attacked by huge colonies of spear-nosed bats, and observes giant weevil grubs and piranhas. He builds a bamboo bridge and a bow and arrow to successfully catch fish, but it doesn't always go his way and he's forced to ride the rapids of the Amazon on a single tree trunk.
Questions on the assignment go in order and will help students remain focused on key science topics.
The worksheet is given as a MS-Word document which will allow easy modifying to fit your class. Answer key is not provided.
