Product Description
Teach your students about emotional regulation with these complete lessons to identify emotions, self-talk, calming strategies, emotional regulation and respecting the feelings of others through role playing, drawing, writing, reading, group work and collaborating.

Each lesson takes 5 minutes or less to prepare and comes with a variety of activities that help students understand feeling words by help them categorize their intensity as well as validate and understand their own feelings in a positive and supportive atmosphere.

Each lesson ranges from 30-60 minutes and has modifications for reinforcement and extensions without spending extra time preparing the lessons. The lessons can be used throughout the year and over and over again with the same or different groups of children.

These lessons have been tested multiple times with students as young as third grade and as old as sixth. Students enjoy creating and using a common language when talking to their peers about feelings and emotions.

The lessons included are:
Feeling Words: Students build common vocabulary and feeling descriptors.
Feeling Targets:Students learn about the different types of emotions and the variances of intensity.
What is Self-Talk? Students learn about how their thinking and feelings are connected.
Managing Self-Talk Students learn how positive thinking can help them regulate their emotions, calm down and boost themselves up.
Emotional Regulation: Students learn how to recover from extreme emotions to get back on track.

These lessons were designed to align with the Alberta Program of Studies for health for grades three through six, but they are general enough to be used in any elementary health classroom.
