Stress effects us all, and the manner in which we learn to cope with stress is an invaluable life skill. These lessons and activities are geared more towards the upper grade levels (9-12). The objectives of these lessons and activities are to help students identify the sources of stress in their lives, identify emotional and behavioral signs of stress, and suggesting methods for managing and eliminating stress. Activities include a brief stress quiz, class discussion prompts, stress facts, a creative drawing activity that allows students to identify the current sources of stress in their life, an activity that allows students to rank order and put their levels of stress in perspective, in addition to a long list of tips and strategies for stress management. These lessons/activities culminate in a guided muscle relaxation and a guided visualization exercise.
