Review vocabulary and warm up your class with "Manchas de Tinta".
I created this PowerPoint presentation using ink blots as a fun way of tapping into students' individual creativity and critical thinking capabilities. It is also an exciting way of having students get out of their seats to go to the board as they point out the vocabulary words.
This is how I envisioned the activity:
1. Students are instructed to look at the ink blots and to find images that relate to the current unit vocabulary. Because the images are abstract, not every student will see images described by their peers but, in any case, having students repeat vocabulary is the goal.
2. As a warm-up, there are five slides for each day of the week. As a vocabulary review in and of itself, there are 25 slides.
3. I insist that students only identify images in Spanish. This keeps participation appropriate and reinforces use of the target language in the classroom.
I think that this PowerPoint can be used at any level and with a wide variety of students. It may be necessary to remind some students that the images are abstract and not obvious.
