Logical connectors are the skeleton of all the meaning we express with language. They're waaaay too important to be a half-page explanation in a textbook!
We began posting these signs, and pointing to each one as we used the words on them freely with NOVICES (zero-Chinese), about five years ago. To our delight, we heard spontaneous output of complex sentences (because...so, although...but, etc.) by some students within two weeks, and all the students could recognize the words in speech by three weeks. That's intermediate-level stuff! :-)
These brightly colored wall signs have been favorites with Chinese teachers in their professionally printed form. Now you can enjoy them in your classroom with a bit of DIY work. Print out as many or as few as you like, and watch your students acquire the words as if by magic.
All you need to do is point to each one as you use the words on it, and make sure the students understand what you've said. You'll be amazed at how quickly students begin to spontaneously output the items in their own speech and writing.
