The book, Mandela: from the life of the South African statesman,is published by Puffin and was created as a sophisticated picture book (note: the book itself is not included in this packet). The subject matter and vocabulary are more on the level of a 5-8 grader and provides a concise, interesting background to understanding Mandela. Would be great to use in studying world leaders or African history or Black issues. Would also provide a good background for students before viewing the 2009 movie, Invictus.
