I have included 3 PPts and an assessment to use as formative or summative. Each PPT is about 45 minute to an hour depending on discussion. At this point in the novel, students should be more independent and discussions will need to be less supported.
As the number of kids who have a grasp of skill/ strategies grows, I will often use that as an opportunity to break kids into 3 groups based on our last formative chapter assessment- I got it, I need support, and I need you to teach me again. Doing this scaffold teaching method with one PPT is going to increase the time allocated but pays off for ALL students. I partner students in the "got it" group with students in the " need support" group to complete task/question while I work directly with a small "teach me again" group. This would also be a great point to use included assessment in a differentiated way also. Letting those who got it take it on their own and those who need support work together, while I directly support/ reteach reading/assessment strategies small group who struggles.
