Product Description
This is a History Extension for the novel Maniac Magee based on the Children's Crusade of the African-American Civil Rights Movement.

The first book Amanda let Maniac borrow was on the Children's Crusade. Most students are unaware of what this event was at this time in their lives. This webquest guides students through learning what civil rights are, what the African-American Civil Rights Movement was, and what the Children's Crusade was. It also asks students to make inferences by explaining why this might have been Amanda's favorite book.

Students are led to an online dictionary, a website about the African-American Civil Rights Movement, and then to a website with a 4 minute video about the Children's Crusade. The video may be watched on individual devices or as a class with a projector and speakers.

This is a Word Doc that may be printed or emailed/shared with students. I emailed it to my students so that they could click on the links and type their responses into the document.
