Before the 13 colonies were established, Europeans were hungry and eager to find out what the other side of the world had for them. Although original thoughts of treasure and fame were a tad bit misleading, the New World that they encountered changed the lives of Europeans and American Indians.
This PowerPoint presentation has proven to be effective if modified for the appropriate age group and learning level. It is the first Unit that is reviewed with all my US History classes.
Why were Europeans so attracted to the Americas?
-The impact geography plays on how people develop
-Portuguese and Spanish influence
-West Africa and the Triangle Trade
-Introduction of slavery
-Conquistadors and early Explorers
PowerPoint ends with the Columbian Exchange and the cultural diffusion that occurred as the Americas developed.
Follow me if you're interested in more social studies/history lesson plans. My plans can cover a wide range of age groups and always aim to stimulate the minds of the future of America.
Thanks, take it easy!
