This game was designed by me to help students get familiar with the states and map. This is a very simple to use game which requires only about 1 minute a day, under 5 minutes on Friday, (I'm serious!) and helps students get familiar with the United States.
All 50 states are included plus Washington D.C. and one card for the United States. All cards have 5 clues. The first clue for each state is that it is one of the states in the U.S. and the last clue is always the name of the capital city. The word "state" is included in every clue to reinforce the concept of states. It never ceases to amaze me how many students name a city, town or country when asked to name a state. Putting this game together doesn't require too much time. Print all clue cards in color on cardstock. There are 30 game pages and 5 instruction pages which include a key. I used this game in 3rd grade but many of my friends have used in in 5th and 6th grade. The only other thing you need is a large US map which can be located where kids can look at it closely.
I hope you enjoy this game.
