Mastering reading and analyzing maps can be a laborious and tedious process. This game is designed to help students learn, practice and review fundamental map skills as outlined by state and national social studies frameworks. As students engage with the game, they will become more familiar with many types of maps and gain experience reading and comparing the information presented by these tools. Suitable for middle school social studies.
Students can work in pairs or small groups. The packet contains 28 map cards with questions on the back of each one. A student chooses a card and has 15 seconds to study it. When they are done, they must answer five questions about the map. Students gain points for each correct answer.
