What educators are saying

Thank you for making this resource! It is so simple for the teacher to prep for. The students were engages and really enjoyed it!
Students were very engaged in this lesson, and were able to practice using skills that correlate directly to coding. Such a wonderful resource!

This coding unplugged activity is one of many that I am creating to use in my STEM classroom! We do these coding challenges about once a week. They are great for teaching sequencing and logical reasoning to students. There are no right or wrong answers, and many different solutions will work! You could also rotate these challenges through a science center. I store everything in a dollar store gift bag or plastic tub for each individual coding unplugged challenge.

This map skills challenge is a great intermediate coding challenge! You can extend it by having students come up with their own maps.

This pack contains just about everything you need to do this challenge! You will need the following items:

Materials: (per classroom)
Map grids (laminated for reuse)
Dry erase markers
Symbol chart
Car cut-outs (laminated and on cardstock)
Flat, wooden coffee stir sticks (to attach cars)
Lab Sheet (to record moves)

*There are multiple versions of the game boards to choose from.

There are four different maps included in the pack, both in color and black and white.
