"Map Skills at the Zoo" is a fun, easy to relate to, activity that reviews map skills as well as reading comprehension. The activity is story based, in that each question is dependent on the one before it. Take the "boring" out of map skills and give your students a fun way to exercise what they know about reading a map in a fun place like a zoo. The story makes map skills meaningful, and gives learning it a purpose.
The answers incorporate north, south, east and west directions as well as northwest, northeast, southwest, and southeast. There are 10 questions in all. Some are fill-in, some are multiple choice.
