This geography lesson plan offers students three activities through which they can master the vocabulary of maps.

In the age of GPS and iPhones, we seem to be losing access to paper maps–but kids still need to learn map skills and develop their geography awareness. An excellent resource for classrooms of a range of age levels, this lesson plan helps students develop a strong foundation in geographic terms that can be built upon in various subjects.

Included in this lesson plan:
- instructions for teachers
- a link to a Kid World Citizen online article to be used in Web Quest
- a Web Quest for students featuring 28 geographic terms
- a Web Quest answer key
- a hands-on Map Labeling Activity
- a Map Vocabulary Matching Assessment Activity
- a Map Vocabulary Matching Activity answer key

Students will learn vocabulary related to maps such as equator, Arctic Circle, Antarctic Circle, axis, compass rose, hemispheres, latitude/longitude, and much, much more.
