I begin my primary mapping unit with a map of students' hearts. Next, I move into mapping perspectives. I teach a lesson on mapping the classroom from several different views - perspective and order are both important lessons. We speak to the benefits of both views, but ask how we could get the best view of the whole classroom (from the ceiling!). We work on bird's eye view in the class, then I assign a map of students' bedrooms as homework to return and share at school. This culminates learning and introduces families to our socials concepts.
This is a freebie for you to enjoy with your students.
