Product Description
Delve into the journals of Meriwether Lewis and William Clark! Analyze these primary source documents to map the journey of the Corps of Discovery! In this lesson, students will analyze excerpts from Meriwether Lewis and William Clark’s journals to discover geographic features the Corps of Discovery located on their expedition. The lesson begins with a warm up activity as students read excerpts from President’s Jefferson’s letter to Meriwether Lewis and identify three geographic objectives Jefferson had for the expedition. Next, pairs ponder questions about navigation in the past and today’s time. Pairs then participate in the geography lesson by reading journal entries and solving each geographic question. Each journal entry has a geography question, hints and a word bank to use to discover each location.
