If you teach AP Environmental Science YOU NEED THIS FOR YOUR STUDENTS!!
I have taught AP Environmental Science now for 10 years and I will tell you my students come in each year not knowing continents, countries, oceans, etc., I AM SERIOUS!! So when I teach about China having the Worlds Largest Dam my students can memorize that, but when they get to the exam and there is a map with a letters at different destinations and the test asking which letter represents the place with the largest dam, my kids get this question wrong because they don't know where it is located.
I went through all released exams and added more questions I think maybe on future exams and typed all the destinations that might be important. My students have to label these maps, then go and locate and write in where the largest dam is, who uses the most desalination, which country uses the most nuclear power, and so on.
Every AP Exam (which they tell you when you look at the break down of our exam on AP Central) always starts with matching or a MAP with questions, normally 4! So your students knowing how to read a map and locate key destinations is so important!
Hope you and your students enjoy this activity!!
