This social living Promethean flipchart for Activ Board teaches students how to describe the uses of maps and globes. It opens with a picture and a higher order thinking prompt. Teachers, move (or have the students move) the objects one by one on the first page to reveal a visual example of earth to globe - it's very neat! Next, it lists the daily objectives to be covered in the lesson. The flipchart then moves on to vocabulary terms: map, symbol, and globe with a definition and visual of each. Next, a learning video is linked to the flipchart (if your system permits the file) and you can show your class a video on globes and maps. The next slide shows a map of the United States. The lesson then moves on to a link of a puzzle of the United States, which students can then, as a class, manipulate and put together to make the map. Last, is a review page, in which students can summarize what they have learned.
