Marbury v Madison is one of the most important court cases in history. In this court opinion, John Marshall explains why the court was unable to give the job to Marbury, even though he was probably entitled to it. This case is one of the more difficult cases for the students to understand, because they have a hard time understanding why he could not have the job even though he was entilted to it. Since Justice Marshall says he had a right, many students will think that is the conclusion and give up. Make sure they understand the decision takes many twists and turns. Front loading the students with information about appellate and original jurisdiction will help them understand the case better
