This unit is for John Lewis' graphic novel MARCH (Book Two). It breaks the novel down into four sections. Each section includes a vocabulary activity, comprehension questions, and writing activity based on a related article/topic. There is also a mini-research project about a person from the Civil Rights movement.
The objective summaries are scaffolded. The students get templates on writing an objective summary paragraph, an SCR contrasting character's point of view, and how to take notes when doing research.
There is also a jigsaw activity for Martin Luther King's, "I Have a Dream" speech. It includes the entire speech broken up into five sections with questions for each section. This is a separate product in my store, but is included free with this unit!
I've included two versions of this unit. One has no extra lines for students to write (meant to be used as a class set to save copies), and the other leaves spaces for students to write their answers. They have the same content, just formatted differently.
