This is a great center to help your kids with number sense! Students will work with a partner to first pull a directions card. Then they will pull number cards based on the directions card They will each play 5 turns (each pulling one set of cards per round), alternating. To start the game, the oldest player will draw a shamrock card. After reading what their card says, they will then follow the directions on the card. Example, if the card says to create three 2 digit numbers and add them using base ten blocks, the player will draw 6 number cards and create three 2 digit numbers from the cards and add them using that strategy. Once that person finishes, the other partner goes and plays the same way. The partner who has the biggest number after adding all of the numbers for that round wins.
Repeat this 4 more times, each time recording who creates the biggest number each round. The person who created the biggest number the most amount of times wins the game.
A fun & easy math center or review!
