Get your kids ready to enjoy the NCAA Tournament, also known as March Madness.
I am a Resource teacher, so my activities need to be quick. For my purposes, I use one activity per day. These could also be used as a multi-disciplinary day unit to kick off the tournament. All you'll need to do is download a bracket of current tournament teams for your students. This is made to be reusable, so updating the bracket each year is all you'll need to do.
Here is what is included :
Introduction - A short informational text is followed by a QR code to find further information. There are 5 questions that can be answered with the information in the QR code.
Bracketology - A math sheet dealing with percentages, ratios, and probability
Alliteration Madness - An alliteration review focused on the idea that tournament terms such as “March Madness” and “Elite Eight” are examples of alliteration. Students will create their own alliteration phrases with basketball terms.
Cinderella Story - This explores higher level thinking of connecting why the term “Cinderella Story” is associated with teams who overachieve in the tournament.
