Greetings! And welcome to the Rainbow Factory! This activity is meant to be a fun “lead-in” to Spring, St. Patrick’s Day, and/or Easter! Rainbows are beautiful elements in nature made from water droplets and sun. In this activity, our rainbows are streaming from the clouds and rain!
The writing activity associated with this activity is, “How to make a rainbow”. Students will use their imaginations and come up with creative things they would put together to create their own rainbow. Ideas are always given in these activities in hopes that you can use it to expand their relationship between colors and objects. Make it as challenging as you want! This activity can be used in grades K, 1st, and 2nd respectively.
Two sets of directions are made. And examples are provided at the end. You can use these ideas to create larger wall examples outside your classroom to display these creatively fun, “SPRINGY” pieces of artwork! Another possibility includes making your own “big cloud” outside your room and place the artwork all around. Either way you choose to display your student’s artwork, they will be the most beautiful of the school! Everyone will be jealous of their beautiful rainbows.
There is also a RAINBOW rubric included! We know how important it is to make sure we cover all the right elements in our writing. It has simple guidelines for younger students.
