Mean, median, and mode – March Madness Statistics Mini Project/Formal Assessment
✔ March Madness Statistics Project
What is included:
This resource includes two mini projects that are designed to be completed after the march madness men’s basketball tournament is complete.
How to use:
This project is to be completed after the march madness basketball tournament is complete.
In my classroom I use pages slides 3-5 during my introduction to statistics. We gather information
about our local region’s men’s college basketball on one of the following sites:
I personally prefer cbc sports. Completing the first three slides together gets students excited
about the project and gives students an idea of how to gather the information they will need
for the main project.
Give each student a copy of slides 6-10 to complete independently. Students will choose one
of the two teams who made the championship game to show case what they have learned.
Common Core Aligned:
Second part of the project has spiral questions that review 6.NS.6, 6.EE.6, 6.EE.8, 6.RP1, 6.RP.2, and 6.RP.4
Enjoy and please leave feedback and let me know what you think!
