This pack includes 8 activities to use in math tubs for the month of March.

Each center includes a recording sheet and an option for differentiation. Download the preview for a sample of what's included:

-Spring Sorting: Students will lay out the true/false headers. They will then look at each picture card and decide if the visual and the words are true or false. Students should discuss why they think that and after sorting, they can complete the recording sheet.
{Common Core: 1.G.3}

-Shamrock Sums: Students will lay all the shamrock cards face up in the playing area. They will put the kid cards in a deck. Students will choose a kid card and add the base 10 blocks plus the given addend. Have students use the tens/ones mat provided and base ten blocks to solve- discussing as they trade 10 ones for a tens rod. Students will match the kid card to its shamrock sum. To differentiate for higher learners, have them spin the spinner and add the multiple of 10 to their sum. {Common Core: 1.NBT.4}

-Buggy Bingo: Students will each take a game board. They will use counters or fun erasers to cover each missing addend as they solve one of the playing cards. First player to get 3 in a row is the winner! 2 sets of cards are included to differentiate: addition cards and addition/subtraction cards {Common Core: 1.OA.8}

-Problems at the Pond: Students will take a word problem card
and read the problem. Students will solve the problem, match the picture card to the correct problem, and write the matching number sentence on their recording sheet. {Common Core: 1.OA.1 & 2}

-Time for Reading: Students will play this game like memory and begin by laying all cards face down. They will choose two cards at a time and try to match the clock card to the correct time card. The clock cards are a different size than the time cards, so students can choose one of each. I recommend having students lay one set at the top of their playing area and one set at the bottom. Students should read each clock as it is drawn to practice reading an analog clock. {Common Core: 1.MD.3}

-Find the Gold: Students will each take a 120 chart with missing numbers. They will choose a playing card and solve. Differentiate by having students use mental math or base 10 blocks. When they solve, they record the number on the 120 chart where it belongs.
To self check, students can use a magnifying glass and find the answer in the leprechaun’s beard. {Common Core: 1.NBT.4, 5, & 6}

-Fluency Frogs: Students will sort the frog equation under what it equals. Students will practice counting on, making a ten, and using known facts (like doubles). Fast finishers can find other ways to equal the lily pad numbers and record additional number sentences on their recording sheet. {Common Core: 1.OA.6}

-Over the Rainbow: Students will lay the game cards in a deck. Each player will take a card and solve, using base 10 blocks or the 120 chart included. The person with the largest sum gets to keep the cards. The person with the most cards at the end is the winner. Instead of having students take cards, I plan to have the person with the largest sum take a golden coin. The person with the most coins when all cards are gone is the winner!
