March Literacy Centers:

Lion/Lamb Letters: students will order uppercase and lowercase letters and write the letters on a recording sheet. There are also several printables to fill in missing letters or focus on uppercase or lowercase letters. (RF.K.1.D, L.K.1.A)

What’s the Vowel Buzz: students will identify CVC pictures, stretch the sounds in the word and isolate the medial sound to find the vowel in the middle. (RF.K.2.D)

Hop to it CVC Rhymes: students will use rhyming and beginning sounds to determine how to spell a CVC word. (RF.K.2.E)

“Bee”ginning Blends: students will sort words by blends and either write or color the blend on a recording sheet. (RF.K.3)

CVC “O”ver the Rainbow: students will identify the CVC picture and stretch out the sounds in the word to find the beginning and ending letters. (RF.K.2.D)

CVC Shamrock Puzzles: students will match the CVC picture to the word to complete the shamrock puzzle. (RF.K.2.D)

Twisted Sight Words: students will unscramble "twisted" sight words to reveal the new sight word. (RF.K.3.C)

It’s Raining Sight Words: students will build a sight word using rain drops. (RF.K.3.c)

Sight Word Search: students will search the room for sight words and write the words (choice of 36 words). (RF.K.3.C)

Roll and Build a Treasure: students will practice writing sight words in a fun independent game to help the leprechaun find his gold. (RF.K.3.C)

Weather Word List: students will learn how to make a list using the mini-word ring. (RF.K.3.C)

My Weather Journal: students will use writing and observations to complete a weather journal.

Weather Word Write: students will learn new vocabulary words when they write weather terms. (RF.K.3.C)

Weather Words Sentence Building Activities: students will practice building sentences, work on spacing words, capital letters and punctuation.

Weather Reproducible: students will read and fill in the missing word with this interactive emergent reader. (RF.K.3.C, RF.K.4)

March: Lion or Lamb: students will predict the weather in the beginning and ending of March.

Counting on with Gold: students will choose a coin (11-20) and write the two numbers that follow. (K.CC.A.1, K.CC.A.3)

Leprechaun Coin Count students will count nickels by 5's to help the leprechaun count his money. (K.CC.A.2, K.CC.A.3)

“Egg”cellent Number Order: students will order numbers from least to greatest. (K.CC.A.2, K.CC.A.3)

Odd and Even Birds: students will sort and write odd and even numbers. (K.CC.A.1)

Buggy Bonds: students will observe the relationship between numbers using bonds. (K.OA.A.2, K.OA.A.3)

Shamrock Tally: students will match numbers to tally's to complete a shamrock puzzle and then practice writing writing both. (K.CC.B.4, K.CC.B.5)

Crazy Bird Base Ten: students will look deeper at numbers to see how they are made up of tens and ones. (L.K.1.A, K.NBT.A.1)

Carrot Count: students will continue to build numbers using twenty frames. (K.CC.B.4, K.CC.B.5)

The Greatest Worm: students will compare numbers and use the appropriate symbol. (K.CC.B.7)

Time for Spring: students will read digital clocks (hour/half hour) and then draw the hands to match on an analog clock. (K.MD)

Spring Addition: students will add groups of objects and then use numbers to represent them. (K.CC.A.3, K.OA.A.1)

Caterpillar Subtraction: students will use objects to subtract and then write number sentences on a recording sheet. (K.CC.A.3, K.OA.A.1)
